What hardwood repair includes.
Damaged hardwood is rarely a total loss. Board replacement swaps individual damaged boards with matched replacements, then sands and finishes the area to blend into the surrounding floor. Water damage repair addresses cupping, buckling, or staining from leaks, dishwasher overflow, or weather. Pet stain removal tackles the dark spots that pet accidents leave; we sand deep, sometimes replace the worst boards, and refinish.
Deep scratch repair handles the gouges that fall outside what a screen and recoat can hide. Gap filling closes the seasonal expansion gaps in older floors. Squeak repair identifies and fixes loose subfloor connections from above without ripping up the floor. Cupping and buckling repair addresses moisture related deformation; sometimes the floor flattens once moisture is corrected, sometimes board replacement is needed.
Heritage specializes in historic restoration. NW Arkansas has Victorian and Craftsman homes in downtown Bentonville, Fayetteville Mount Sequoyah and Wilson Park, and Rogers historic district that have original hardwood worth preserving. We do heart pine restoration, board replacement in matching species, gap filling with custom rope, and finish work that honors the original character of the home. Past institutional restoration work at the University of Arkansas means we have done this on the most demanding settings.

What repair looks like in practice.
Free assessment
We come out, look at the damaged area, and tell you whether you need spot repair, partial sand and finish, or full replacement. Free quote in writing.
Source matching wood
For board replacement we source matching species and grade. For older homes we may need to pull boards from a closet or transition area as the visible match.
The repair
Damaged boards removed, replacements installed and fastened. For water or pet stain damage we sand deep, address subfloor moisture, and stabilize the substrate.
Blend sanding and finish
The repair area is sanded to blend with surrounding boards and finished with the same Bona Certified finish. Stain matched to the existing color.
Walkthrough
You walk the repair with us. The goal is for the repair to disappear into the floor.
Honest pricing, custom to your job.
The cost factors are scope (single board vs whole room), species and grade availability (red oak is easy to match; reclaimed heart pine takes more sourcing time), the surrounding floor condition (whether a partial sand and finish around the repair is needed for blend), and access (multi level homes with stairs add labor). Most spot repairs run a few hundred to low four figures; multi room water damage repairs scale up. The estimate is free; the quote is in writing.
Repair FAQ.
Will the repair be invisible?
The goal is yes. The repair area is sanded to blend with surrounding boards and finished with matched stain. In old floors with significant patina, perfect invisibility is harder; we explain expectations on the assessment visit.
Can you fix water damage without replacing the whole floor?
Often yes if the damage is localized and the subfloor is sound. Severe damage that has reached the subfloor or spread across multiple rooms may need broader replacement; we tell you straight on the assessment.
Can you remove dark pet stains?
Sometimes. Light pet stains often sand out. Deep pet stains that have penetrated the wood may need board replacement. We test sand a small area on the assessment to show you what is possible.
Do you fix squeaks?
Yes, in most cases without ripping up the floor. We use specialty fastener systems that secure loose subfloor connections from above.
Can you match heart pine in a 100 year old house?
Yes. Heart pine restoration is a Heritage specialty. We source reclaimed heart pine for matching repairs in historic NW Arkansas homes.
More we do for NW Arkansas homeowners.
