What we do

What hardwood floor installation looks like with Heritage.

Heritage installs new solid and engineered hardwood across NW Arkansas. We start with subfloor preparation, acclimate the wood to your home for 3 to 5 days, then install board by board with the pattern and finish you select. Most residential jobs run 3 to 7 days depending on square footage and pattern complexity.

Installation is the highest stakes hardwood job in your home. Get the subfloor wrong and the floor cups, gaps, or buckles. Skip acclimation and the wood expands or contracts after install. Use the wrong fastener spacing and squeaks appear within months. We do not skip steps. The crew that walks into your house is the same crew that has installed thousands of square feet of hardwood across NW Arkansas since 2010.

Heritage installs every species the regional market supports. Red oak is the most common choice for NW Arkansas homes; durable, takes stain well, classic grain. White oak for clients who want a tighter, less pronounced grain or who plan to fume or rift cut. Hickory when the homeowner wants the hardest commonly available domestic species. Maple for clean, modern looks. Cherry, walnut, heart pine, and reclaimed on request. We install solid hardwood (3/4 inch thick) and engineered (3/8 to 5/8 inch with a hardwood wear layer over plywood).

Patterns range from straight plank in 2 1/4, 3 1/4, 4, and wider widths up to 7 plus inches, through herringbone, chevron, and parquet. Wide plank installs require additional subfloor preparation; herringbone and chevron require precise cuts and add 1 to 2 days to the project. We talk through the pattern decision with you on the estimate visit, weighing the look, the budget, and how the room flows.

Process

What you experience, start to finish.

  1. In home estimate

Free in home visit by appointment within 48 hours. We measure, evaluate the subfloor, talk species and pattern, and leave you a written quote.

  2. Material selection and ordering

Once you sign, we order the wood from regional suppliers. Lead time is typically 1 to 3 weeks depending on species and grade.

  3. Acclimation

Wood arrives at your home and acclimates to the space for 3 to 5 days before any board is laid. This step prevents post install cupping or gaps.

  4. Subfloor preparation

We level, fasten loose plywood, address moisture issues, and add a vapor barrier as needed. The subfloor is what determines whether the finished floor lasts 50 years or 5.

  5. Installation

Board by board, with the pattern and width you selected. Crews work efficiently while protecting cabinets, baseboards, and adjacent flooring.

  6. Sand and finish

For site finished installs, we sand to raw wood, apply optional stain, and seal with three coats of Bona Certified finish. Cure time 24 to 48 hours.

  7. Walkthrough and warranty

You walk the floor with us before payment. We address any issues on the spot. Lifetime finish warranty available on Bona Traffic HD finishes.

What it costs

Honest pricing, custom to your job.

Installation cost depends on species, pattern, plank width, subfloor condition, and whether the install is solid or engineered. Standard plank installs run mid range; wide plank, herringbone, and chevron run higher. We provide a transparent written quote on the in home estimate visit, no surprises mid project.

Cost factors that move the number include the species (red oak is the most affordable mainstream option, walnut and reclaimed cost more), the pattern (herringbone and chevron add labor), the plank width (5 inch and wider need extra prep), the subfloor (concrete slab on grade vs plywood vs existing wood), removal of existing flooring (carpet, tile, vinyl), and trim plus transitions. Our cost guide for NW Arkansas at /cost-guide/ walks through the full range without quoting your specific job; that comes on the estimate visit.

Frequently Asked

Installation FAQ.

Solid or engineered hardwood?

Solid is 3/4 inch thick and can be sanded and refinished many times across decades. Engineered is plywood underneath with a hardwood top wear layer; it can be refinished once or twice depending on the wear layer thickness. Solid is the default for NW Arkansas homes on plywood subfloor; engineered is the smart choice for slab on grade and basements where moisture is a factor.

How long does installation take?

Most residential jobs run 3 to 7 days. Acclimation adds 3 to 5 days before install. Sand and finish adds 3 to 5 days plus 24 to 48 hour cure. Wide plank or herringbone patterns add 1 to 2 days. We give you a project calendar at the estimate.

Can you match an existing hardwood floor?

Yes. Custom stain matching is a core part of our work. We sample on site against the existing floor and refine until the match is right. Match jobs are common when expanding into an addition or replacing damaged sections.

Do you do new construction installs?

Yes. We work with several NW Arkansas builders and homeowners on new construction projects across Bella Vista, Bentonville, Centerton, Cave Springs, and the rest of the region.

Will dust be a problem during sanding?

No. Dustless sanding with HEPA dust extraction is standard on every Heritage install that includes site finishing. Most clients are surprised at how clean the work is. We still recommend covering art and electronics, but cleanup is minimal.
